This journey takes place in the Chiang Mai region of Thailand, the former seat of the Lanna Kingdom. This region boasts bustling but laid back Chaing Mai city, surrounded by a rural landscape that invites you into a deeper connection with the rhythms of nature. We begin our retreat with 6 days/6 nights at the extraordinary Mala Dhara retreat center ~ 45 minutes outside the city. Mala Dhara is a rural haven of sustainability: earthen eco-villas, organic farming, and pure food welcome you to settle into Thailand in a gentle way. Your days will include yoga practice, Thai massage, hot springs, hiking, Thai cooking, and resting alongside the salt water pool.

From Mala Dhara we’ll travel further north to Elephant Nature Park for an overnight stay. This rehabilitation facility is home to elephants rescued from the lumber and tourism trades, and provided a home where they can again live as herd, free of chains and abuse. You’ll walk amongst the herds, feed, bathe, and learn more about these majestic creatures, as well as enjoy a private overnight at the Park.

The final leg of our journey finds us in the ancient, walled city of Chiang Mai. We’ll spend 4 days/4 nights in the city center, with endless options within walking distance. Here you can explore a myriad of temples, feast on Thai cuisine, walk Chiang Mai’s famous night markets, or simply meander and explore the cultural landmarks. I look forward to sharing the beauty of Thailand with you!

Your Guides:


Kara Aubin E.RYT, C.Ayur is a ParaYoga teacher and Ayurvedic Practitioner based in Michigan. Kara brings 18 years of sharing the spirit and science of Yoga & Ayurveda: leading in-depth study programs including Sva Sadhana; practicing and teaching clinical Ayurveda, and leading retreats. Her mission is to guide students toward their bright inherent potential, as well as their right to radical wellness and balance.

Kara guides students on retreat as a means to know oneself better via the experience of travel. She believes learning from the rich cultures of the world makes us better global citizens. She also been witness time and again to the transformative power of retreat - and is committed to offering these opportunities for growth to students on the path.

Kara's retreats are filled with community, ceremony, and exploration each with a unique flavor of the locale. She’s thrilled to co-facilitate this retreat with her ParaYoga sister, Amie Heeter.

Amie Heeter is a passionate yoga and meditation teacher since 2004, leading group classes, Advanced Studies courses, private consultations, and retreats in Wisconsin and abroad. She is a 500hr level teacher and received ParaYoga Level 1 certification in the spring of 2014.

Amie firmly believes we all have the capacity to live a life that is meaningful, authentic, and inspired, and that we can greatly support our health and vitality at the same time. Yoga is a system that supports us in all of these aspects, helping us uncover our unique nature and casting light into what we’re not seeing clearly – what unconscious beliefs are holding us back.  With clear knowledge and the tools to shift our deep seated patterning, we unlock our freedom, become more effective in our efforts, less bogged down in our challenges, and embody our potential.

Not included: airfare to/from CNX, additional healing treatments, non-breakfast meals while in Chiang Mai city, optional tours, optional local transportation, gratuities, and incidentals.

A $600 deposit secures your spot on this retreat.
Space is limited. Accommodation type listed is for Mala Dhara, and may vary at other locations. Preference for accommodation style will be given on a first come, first served basis.

The fine print...

  • 50% Tuition due by July 1, 2019, Remainder due November 1, 2019.

  • Tuition payable by check or credit card. Credit card payments will include a 3% processing fee.

  • Initial deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

  • If you have not paid your balance by the dates above your spot will be made available to other participants.

  • 50% of tuition refundable 120 days prior to the retreat.

  • Less than 120 days prior to retreat tuition is non-refundable.

  • Due to the non-refundable nature of tuition, flight + trip insurance is recommended.
