Delicious Plant-Based Shallot Gravy

 

Serves 8-10 | Ready in 15 minutes

A simple mouth-watering shallot gravy to use alongside your favorite plant-based roast, our lentil wellington, or on top of our light-on-digestion garlic mashers. It’s so good, that you’ll be eating it right from the gravy bowl!

Ingredients

4 cups of vegetable broth
½ cup of olive oil
1 shallot, minced
½ cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp white miso paste
¼ cup nutritional yeast
Himalayan pink salt + black pepper to taste

Method

  • In a medium saucepan heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  • Add the minced shallot and cook until translucent

  • Slowly add ½ cup flour to the oil/shallot mixture. Whisking continuously for approx. two mins.

  • Gradually add the broth to the mixture, don't stop whisking until it’s all in.

  • Add the miso paste, nutritional yeast, and fresh black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  • Bring the gravy to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer until thick, 5-8 mins.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve with our delicious lentil wellington, our light-on-digestion garlic mashers, or your favorite plant-based holiday roast. Enjoy!
