spiced cranberry chutney

This spiced cranberry chutney is the perfect way to layer in the six tastes of Āyurveda and help create a more easily digestible holiday meal. Its simple, delicious, and comes together in no time.

Ingredients

1 lb. fresh cranberries
2 whole cloves 
4 cinnamon sticks (or 2 tsp ground cinnamon)
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated 
1 cup orange juice 
1 TBS orange zest
⅓ cup coconut sugar or maple syrup
3 TBS currants
5-6 peppercorns

Method

  • In a medium saucepan combine the cranberries, currants, spices, ginger, orange juice, and orange zest. 

  • Allow the mixture to come to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low and add the sweetener. 

  • Simmer for about 20 minutes, until the chutney thickens to a jam-like consistency. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

  • Once cool, remove the cloves and serve alongside your favorite holiday meal.
